How Does the Altar Flower Program Work?
Altar flowers are used throughout the year to enhance the worship experience in the church Sanctuary. Individuals or families may sign up for any given week to provide altar flowers. The church’s office staff then contacts those who have signed up when it is their week to provide the flowers. You will be asked if you have any special requests and if the flowers are donated in honor or memory of someone, or simply given “to the glory of God.”
The Worship Committee’s desire is to maintain the integrity of the altar, so it is recommended that flowers be ordered through the church office. The current charge for purchasing altar flowers is $25. However, special requests or other arrangements costing more or less may be made. To coordinate, please contact Ruth Woodward at 231/865-3801 so this may be properly coordinated.
If two arrangements are indicated for any given week, every attempt will be made to match or coordinate them or place one in the side windows of the Sanctuary. In some cases, there are Sundays that are blocked out due to special arrangements, like at Easter, or may only have window displays available, such as during Advent or Lent.
What Is a “Flower Angel”?
If a person does not have a particular Sunday in mind for purchasing altar flowers, the church always welcomes individuals to become a “Flower Angel.” On Sundays when no one has signed up for flowers, the church office staff will contact an “Angel” to donate that week. Please let the church office know if you would like to be added to this list. Also, if you have questions, please contact Ruth Woodward: 231/865-3801.
